CBN is done. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unless\u2026 you qualify for medical use. And that\u2019s the part everyone is confused about right now \u2014 how that actually works in real life. It also doesn&#8217;t mean that was the absolute deadline to get a medical use certificate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re applying for medical use, getting your documents submitted by April 17 gives you the best chance of being approved <em>before<\/em> June hits. After that, you can still apply but you might end up in a weird limbo where you technically qualify but don\u2019t have your official confirmation yet. So if you don\u2019t want any pauses in being able to medicate with CBN, April 17th is your deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FWIW: April 17, 2026 was only relevant if you didn&#8217;t want any gaps in being able to legally use CBN. It&#8217;s a moot point now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"who-can-actually-qualify-for-medical-cbn\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who Can Actually Qualify for Medical CBN?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately for a lot of us, this isn\u2019t just a, \u201cI sleep better with it\u201d situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The medical exception is specifically for people with <strong>intractable conditions<\/strong> \u2014 meaning ongoing, difficult-to-treat illnesses where other treatments haven\u2019t worked. And even then, it\u2019s not self-declared. Your doctor has to agree that continuing CBN use is medically necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So this is a narrow door. It\u2019s open\u2026 but it\u2019s not wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do I think many people will be able to squeeze through this loophole? Truthfully, no, not really.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Japan\u2019s medical system tends to be cautious, and CBN \u2014 especially in the form people are currently using it \u2014 isn\u2019t exactly a standard, widely recognized treatment here. So for many doctors, this is going to feel unfamiliar at best\u2026 and uncomfortable at worst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That said, \u201cunlikely\u201d doesn\u2019t mean impossible. If you have a legitimate, documented condition and a doctor who understands your situation (especially one who\u2019s open-minded or already working with alternative or harder-to-treat cases) there <em>is<\/em> a real pathway here. If they determine that CBN is necessary for your condition, they\u2019ll issue an official medical certificate (it has to be recent \u2014 within the last six months).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 1: Get your diagnosis paperwork<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong> This is the formal medical certificate from your doctor confirming your condition and the need for CBN.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 2: Submit your usage report<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong> You (or a proxy \u2014 parent, spouse, family member, etc.) will fill out a document basically saying:<br>\u201cYes, I am using CBN for medical purposes.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 3: Request a medical opinion<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong> Another form gets submitted requesting an official opinion from a relevant medical society. Sounds intense, but it\u2019s just part of the chain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 4: Mail everything to the MHLW<br><\/strong> Bundle all your documents together (doctor\u2019s certificate + forms) and send them by post.<br>Yes\u2026 actual mail. No online form. No upload button. Just paper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 5: Wait for review<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong> The MHLW reviews your documents and forwards them to a medical society for evaluation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 6: Receive your confirmation letter<br><\/strong> If approved, you\u2019ll get an official confirmation letter mailed back to you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that letter? That\u2019s the golden ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without it, you\u2019re treated like any other non-medical user once the ban starts. It becomes something that can only be handled under strict rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shops and companies that want to continue dealing with CBN will need to register, submit official pledges, track inventory, and report everything properly to authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And most importantly, they can only sell to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Patients who have that official confirmation letter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or other licensed businesses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What we\u2019ll probably see is a much smaller, tightly controlled ecosystem where only certain sellers continue and only for verified medical users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So access is about to become more limited, but not impossible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"final-thoughts-from-me-to-you\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Final Thoughts (From Me to You)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This whole shift is\u2026 big. For a lot of people, CBN has quietly been part of their routine. And now suddenly, it\u2019s <em>prove you need it medically<\/em>. It just takes a bit of planning, a cooperative doctor, and some patience with paperwork.
