According to Japanese cannabinoid supplier <a href=\"https:\/\/greenagent.jp\/thcnm\/\">BudsBrain<\/a>, THA and THCNM have an interesting connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what exactly is THCNM? Where does it come from? Is it legal in Japan? And, perhaps most importantly, what does it actually feel like?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naturally, Mary Jane has questions. And the journalist in me sought out answers. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/online.greenagent.jp\/thcnm\/\">BudsBrain<\/a>, its chemical name is <strong>1&#8242;-Dimethyl-Delta-9-THCH<\/strong>, suggesting a structural relationship to THCH, another psychoactive cannabinoid previously marketed in Japan. The ingredient reportedly comes as a yellowish distillate oil that resists crystallization at room temperature, making it suitable for vape formulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, independent scientific information remains limited. We don&#8217;t yet have established human research explaining THCNM&#8217;s potency, duration, long-term safety, or precise effects. Most publicly available information currently comes from suppliers themselves. And while I appreciate a company willing to explain what&#8217;s inside its products, supplier descriptions aren&#8217;t quite the same thing as peer-reviewed science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wait-isnt-thcnm-just-tha\">Wait\u2026 Isn&#8217;t THCNM Just THA?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, there&#8217;s an interesting connection! According to <a href=\"https:\/\/online.greenagent.jp\/thcnm\/tha\/\">Japanese industry information<\/a>, products previously marketed as THA contained THCNM as their principal psychoactive ingredient. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THCNM was reportedly difficult to import as a standalone material, so it circulated in blended formulations under the THA name. In other words, THA was used as a commercial name for certain mixtures, while THCNM refers to the underlying cannabinoid. However, that doesn&#8217;t mean every THA product contained identical ingredients or that today&#8217;s THCNM formulations are necessarily the same. New name, who dis? Apparently, someone we may have already met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s also worth noting that <strong>THCNM and THAH are different<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/maryjaneinjapan.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/02\/what-is-thah-heres-what-we-know-so-far\/\">THAH<\/a> is a separate proprietary blend that entered Japan&#8217;s cannabinoid market earlier in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-does-thcnm-feel-like\">What Does THCNM Feel Like?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now for the question everybody really wants answered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Early descriptions compare THCNM to THCH, but suggest a more balanced experience that falls somewhere between traditionally described sativa and indica effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reported characteristics include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2728 Noticeable psychoactive effects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2728 An uplifting, relatively clear-headed sensation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2728 A balance of mental stimulation and physical relaxation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2728 Less heavy-bodied sedation than some stronger cannabinoids<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2728 Increased appetite, otherwise known as the munchies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That last one is particularly interesting. Apparently, THCNM may come with an enthusiastic invitation to investigate the contents of your refrigerator and you know I love an opportunity to raid my kitchen like the feral raccoon I really am. However, these are early supplier-reported effects, not scientifically established findings. We don&#8217;t yet have reliable human studies establishing its onset, duration, or intensity compared with cannabinoids such as CBX, H4CBH, or THAH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And because products may contain substantial amounts of other cannabinoids, experiences could vary considerably between brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"whats-actually-inside-thcnm-products\">What&#8217;s Actually Inside THCNM Products?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like many newer cannabinoids, THCNM is still relatively unfamiliar territory when it comes to laboratory testing. Published testing for one THCNM blend identifies familiar cannabinoids such as CBD and CBG, with THC and CBN reported as not detected. The supplier also reports testing for contaminants, including heavy metals, pesticides, and residual solvents. Interestingly, the laboratory didn&#8217;t measure THCNM itself because it lacked the specific reference material needed to test for it accurately. In September 2026, Japanese supplier <a href=\"https:\/\/online.greenagent.jp\/thcnm\/legal\/\">BudsBrain reported<\/a> receiving a response from the Okinawa Narcotics Control Office concerning a submitted THCNM material. According to the company&#8217;s published explanation, the material was assessed as not falling under the definition of a narcotic under Japan&#8217;s Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Act, based on the documentation provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a positive development, although it&#8217;s worth remembering that the assessment applies to the specific material submitted rather than every THCNM product on the market. As with other newer cannabinoids in Japan, the legal picture depends on the exact ingredients and current regulations.
