There’s a difference between getting lifted… and getting it right. Every month, starting now, I’d like to take a step back from the noise and focus on what I’m actually reaching for. Not what’s trending, but what works.
So here’s this month’s lineup: the daily driver, the properly stoned option, the accessories that elevate the ritual, and the snacks + soundtrack that make it feel intentional. Because if we’re doing this in Japan’s evolving altnoid space, we’re doing it with taste. So without further ado, here are Mary Jane’s Picks of the Month for February.
The Daily Drivers
(Functional, smooth, socially acceptable energy)
These are the ones I reach for when I still have things to do, like writing, light errands, lunch with my MIL, or other conversations that require eye contact.
A daily driver should feel balanced — steady body ease, clear enough head, and a flavor profile that doesn’t overwhelm. It’s not about intensity with these; it’s about consistency. Something to put a nice fuzz or shine on the day, like your very own rose-tinted glasses. These are the products I’d recommend to someone who says: “I want to feel good. Not gone.”
Knockout’s Daylight Vibe – If you want to feel lifted but still composed, Daylight Vibe delivers steady, social clarity with just enough body ease to smooth the edges.
Kush JP’s SUPER Sativa – If your daily driver needs a little ambition, this is the “get dressed, get moving” tier. But it will get you baked, so be careful!
Kush JP’s CBG Pro – This is the lift for people who don’t actually want to feel stoned — just sharper.
Get Properly Stoned
(Not for meetings. Not for multitasking.)
This category is deliberate. This is movie-night energy. Vinyl-on-the-turntable energy. I’m bring all the snacks to the couch and fully camping out. The “I’m canceling plans and that’s correct” energy.
If the daily driver is functional, this one is immersive. Deeper body presence. Slower thoughts. Maybe a little existential in the best way. Because if you’re going in, go in properly.
Gohoya’s CPX x H4CBH – When I say properly stoned, I mean Gohoya— immersive, body-led, and unapologetically strong.
Kush JP’s Couch Lock – If I’m choosing one to truly settle into the evening, it’s usually Couch Lock. It’s warm, weighted, and reliably unhurried.
Knockout’s Legal Strong – Strong enough to feel, balanced enough to handle.
Accessories That Elevate the Ritual
A good setup matters, which includes the right battery. Japan’s legal market moves quickly, but the ritual shouldn’t feel sloppy. The small details like clean hardware, organized storage, and something that travels well make everything smoother. I’m less interested in flashy and more interested in functional, minimal, well-made. This is what’s wowed me lately:
Hydro Bubbler Procache – Cooler vapor, lower kick, discreet with a hidden cartridge: the hydro bubbler turns a standard cart into something closer to a proper bong session.
Snacks That Pair Well
Because we all have a feral raccoon living inside of us who just wants to be awakened. Citrus terps? I want something salty. Earthy notes? Dark chocolate wins every time.
Sweet botanical blends? A crisp konbini snack cuts through perfectly.
This month’s pairing is simple and elite:
Shiitake Mushroom Snack – They look like the good mushrooms from my youth — but the only effect here is that they’re genuinely delicious.
Bourbon Mini Rich Chocolate Brownies – Available everywhere, but dangerously easy to demolish so I’ve graduated to the larger bags for efficiency.
Hula’s Potato Chips – No notes, I just freaking love these.
Soundtrack of the Month

Your experience shifts depending on what’s playing. My music tastes are all over the map from deep soul to rebellious punk. But when it’s time to chill, I want to chill. Here’s what I’ve been getting stoned to this month, it takes me back to the beach in Thailand:
And a cool random aside? I just learned The XX will be headlining this coming summer’s Fuji Rock Festival!
Final Thoughts
Whatever you choose, enjoy, keep it legal, and stay lifted. 🍃
