Ordering altnoids online is easy peasy, but once Golden Week kicks in, things slow down. A lot.

What Actually Happens During Golden Week

It’s not that everything shuts down completely — it’s that everything gets… unpredictable.

• Some shops close entirely
• Some shops stay open and ship daily (hooray!)
• Some stay open but ship slower
• Stock disappears faster than usual
• Delivery times stretch out (especially outside major cities)

So that “next-day delivery” you’re counting on? Yeah… maybe not this week.

Shipping Reality Check (Yamato & Japan Post)

🐈‍⬛ Yamato Transport (Kuroneko)

Still delivers during Golden Week, but:

• Reduced pickup schedules in some areas
• Delays due to volume + traffic
• Some vendors may not ship daily

👉 Translation:
Even if Yamato is running, your package might not be. That said, I live as rural as it gets (on Honshu, anyway), and Yamato is always on the move, making deliveries within one or two days.

📮 Japan Post

• Regular mail slows or pauses on holidays
• Yu-Pack (parcel service) continues, but:
  • Expect delays
  • Limited processing on certain days

👉 Translation:
If your order relies on Japan Post, build in extra time. For real.

How to Time It (This Is the Part That Matters)

If you’re reading this on Monday:

👉 Order Monday = best chance of getting it before the midweek rush

👉 Order Tuesday = maybe okay, depending on the shop

👉 Order Wednesday or later = you’re rolling the dice

And remember:

• It’s not just the carrier
• It’s whether the shop actually ships your order that day

Personally, I already put in my order this weekend — a couple of my usual go-to’s plus something new I’ve been meaning to try because there’s nothing worse than realizing mid–Golden Week that you’re out. Imagine, future you, halfway through Golden Week, relaxing… you’ll either be very grateful you’re fully stocked up or very annoyed you aren’t!
