JIHE 2026 — the Japan International Hemp Expo — is coming to Tokyo this November, bringing CBD, hemp, science, food, fashion, agriculture, construction, biotechnology and the wider industry together under one roof. Well, technically, under an entire building.
This year, JIHE 2026 will take over House of OMOTESANDO in Tokyo, with everything from the basement exhibition hall to the rooftop transformed into different parts of the expo. And perhaps the best news for anyone curious about Japan’s growing hemp scene?

What Is JIHE 2026?
JIHE stands for Japan International Hemp Expo, which its organizers describe as one of Japan’s largest international exhibitions covering the hemp industry.
The event grew from the integration of two names that may already be familiar if you’ve followed Japan’s CBD scene: CBD Journey and CannaCon. But this isn’t just rows and rows of CBD products. The JIHE 2026 Japan International Hemp Expo is designed to cover the much bigger hemp industry, including agriculture, textiles, construction materials, food, fashion and biotechnology alongside CBD.
And that wider perspective is part of what makes this event particularly interesting to me. Japan’s cannabinoid market can sometimes feel like its own strange little bubble, especially for those of us watching CBD and the constantly evolving legal cannabinoid scene.
JIHE offers an opportunity to zoom out and see where all of that fits into the much larger hemp industry — and where Japan might be heading next.
Two Days, Two Very Different Experiences
JIHE 2026 runs for two days, but Friday and Saturday have deliberately different focuses.
November 13: Business Day
Friday is Business Day, intended primarily for industry professionals. The day will include exhibitions, business meetings, networking and the CannaCon conference, covering topics such as medical and scientific research, regulation and policy, sustainability and international markets. Experts from Japan and overseas are expected to participate, with AI interpretation planned for international sessions.
In other words, if you work in Japan’s hemp or CBD industry — or happen to spend far too much of your life writing about it on the internet — this is probably the dangerous day for your business-card supply.
November 14: Community Day
Saturday is Community Day, and this is probably the day most Mary Jane in Japan readers will be interested in. It’s open to everyone, with CBD and hemp exhibits, experiences, community programming and product sales planned.
So no, you don’t need to own a CBD company, know the molecular structure of every cannabinoid or walk around carrying a clipboard looking important. You can just be curious. And with general admission free, it’s a pretty tempting addition to a Tokyo weekend.
An Entire Omotesando Building Full of Hemp
The venue itself might be one of the coolest parts of JIHE 2026. Rather than putting everything into one giant exhibition hall, JIHE is taking over House of OMOTESANDO, with different floors dedicated to different parts of the event.
The B1 Sky Hall will hold the main exhibition and stage, including hands-on CBD and hemp product exhibits.
The first floor will serve as reception and a business lounge.
Upstairs, the second floor will host the CannaCon conference alongside a kitchen where visitors can experience freshly prepared hemp food.
And then there’s the rooftop terrace, designed as a networking and social space for exhibitors and attendees.
That sounds considerably more fun (and immersive!) than shuffling through endless rows of identical convention booths.
Japan’s Hemp Events Are Getting Big
And this isn’t exactly a tiny niche meetup anymore. According to JIHE’s official past-event reports, JIHE 2025 brought more than 120 exhibitors and over 2,000 visitors to LUMINE 0 in Shinjuku. And before that, CBD Journey Vol. 5 attracted more than 100 companies and 2,600 visitors in 2023.
For a scene that can still feel practically invisible if you aren’t already part of it, those are pretty substantial numbers. And events like this also give us an interesting snapshot of what the Japanese industry is actually doing.
What kinds of products are companies developing? Where is CBD heading? How are businesses navigating Japan’s changing regulatory environment? How much attention is shifting beyond cannabinoids and toward hemp itself? Sometimes an expo floor can tell you more about the direction of an industry than a hundred press releases.
Who Will Be at JIHE 2026?
At the time of this posting… we don’t know yet. JIHE has not announced its full 2026 lineup of speakers, exhibitors or sponsors. Those sections of the official website are currently marked “Coming Soon.” And, frankly, that’s the part I’m waiting for.
Once the exhibitor list drops, we should get a much clearer picture of this year’s event — including which familiar names from Japan’s CBD and cannabinoid scene will be showing up. I’ll be keeping an eye on it and updating this article as more information is announced.

Should You Go to JIHE 2026?
Um. Yes.
If you’re interested in Japan’s CBD market, hemp, cannabinoids, cannabis policy, industry trends — or you just enjoy wandering around an expo discovering things you absolutely did not intend to buy — JIHE 2026 looks like one of the most interesting cannabis-adjacent events happening in Japan this year.
As for me? I would love to be there. Whether I can actually make another Tokyo trip happen in November is another question entirely. But whether I’m wandering around House of OMOTESANDO myself or watching jealously from afar, I’ll definitely be following this one.
